Jan’s Living Room

Jan

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE the fact that I get to visit so many beautiful homes in the course of my work?  It’s one of the best aspects of my business. I suppose you could look at this as being extremely nosy but honestly it’s not!

I love seeing everything from how a house is laid out (nooks, crannies…”Oh, I never would have guessed this room is back here!”) to how my clients use their space (bedrooms being put to better use as workout room or offices tucked under stairs).

Today, I’m sharing a living room from one of these beautiful homes. If you didn’t get to see Jan’s dining room, master bedroom or her master bathroom with it’s own private courtyard click on these links to take a look.

From the moment you walk into Jan’s home you’re greeted with the sense of home, family and history.

Jan 3 Jan 2Love her rug and those textured cotton cafe sheers are always a favorite. So light and airy and perfect for this space.

Jan 8Here’s a trick you might use in your own home. There is a step down between the dining room/entry hall and Jan’s living room. Since this is potentially a minor health hazard if you don’t notice the step she had a stencil painted and distressed along the edge. Subtle but enough to catch your eye and make you aware of the step.

If you look closely you might detect in what season I took these photos. I’ve had them for a while.

Jan’s living room is beautiful and so elegant. The lace curtains are all so pretty along with all the decorative details. Not to be pushy here…but it looks like she has a beautiful yard. :)

I love a home that says “Welcome, have a seat. Would you like a cup of tea.” I love the fabrics used in this home. Thank you for the idea of stencil on the step, as I too have one in my home.
