Ladies in Red – Valances Lined with Red

Tab for Cheetah ValanceToday I have two entirely different valances to show you, both of which are lined in red. I’d say maybe 5% of the window treatments I make are lined in a color so it’s definitely not the norm but in this case it works! It’s actually one of my favorite things to see that unexpected pop of color peeking out.

Valance One

You may recognize the style and fabrics on this valance. There is a smaller version shown in The Gallery that was made for a back door. Carolyn contacted me with the request to make the same style for a larger window in her kitchen.

Cheetah Valance

Sometimes, I have to get quite creative when taking pictures of window treatments. Especially those window treatments that are being shipped across country and I don’t have the option of taking pictures after they’re installed.

Here you see Carolyn’s valance lovingly displayed against the backdrop of my kitchen, propped up by two barstools, complete with dirty dishes peaking out of the sink.

Ruffle Detail on Cheetah ValanceI made this valance identical fabrics as the smaller version in shades of black, tan, red and ivory.

Lining Detail on Cheetah ValanceThe black and tan animal print was used for the body, an ivory cotton sheer for the ruffle and a deep red velvet as an accent. The red cotton lining is from Hobby Lobby.

Carolyn's Valance

What a beautiful dining area! So pretty! I love seeing the window treatments in their new homes!  Thank you, Carolyn!

Valance Two

The red floral lining and accent band make this burlap valance pop!

Red Lined Burlap Valance (2)This valance was made for Stacey’s kitchen over at Poofing the Pillows.

Red Lined Burlap ValanceStacey knew she wanted to use burlap and after playing around with several color choices found this adorable red and tan floral we used for the lining and band.

Banding for Burlap Valance

Stacey sent me a picture of the style she wanted for her kitchen. A simple valance to be hung on a metal rod using rings. I used a nice quality burlap instead of the less expensive, more open weave burlaps found at Hobby Lobby or Wal-mart.  I love how the red floral looks against the natural texture of the burlap.

Red Floral Lined Burlap ValanceStacey and her husband recently moved to Texas. You can read all about her new Texas home at her blog Poofing the Pillows as well as a funny story about this valance now hanging in her kitchen!

THANK YOU, Carolyn and Stacey, for allowing me the privilege of working with you and sharing your new valances!

Pretty pretty! I absolutely love mine. Since we moved here, the decorating element that people comment on most often is all the curtains you’ve made! Truly.
