“I Have Found The One” Wedding Scripture Art

Scripture Art Board

When my sweet niece Elizabeth was born my sister Stacy declared…adamantly…that there would NO nicknames. Her name is Elizabeth.

No one would be calling her Liz, Liza, Lilabeth, Lizzy, Bess, Betty, Betsy, Bet…just Elizabeth.

My husband must have taken this as a direct challenge because before she was 2 Uncle Scott had dubbed her Libby…and it stuck! And you know what? Stacy loved it! :)

My Soul Loves Scripture Art (3)

Not long after Libby and Josh became engaged my two older daughters, Courtney and Kaleigh said they were going to NC to help Libby get ready for the wedding. My reply was, “If you’re going, I’m going!” So in January we flew out for a few days to visit family and help Stacy and Libby get a head start on the wedding crafts.

Libby had pinned a few wedding/scripture boards she liked. She wanted to use the scripture “I have found the one whom my soul loves” Song of Solomon 3:4  (The wording we used is a combination of NIV and KJV)

My Soul Loves Scripture Art

My Dad took 3 wide old boards we found in his garage, cut and screwed them together for me.

My brother, Matt aka MTD helped my Dad aka EED with this part of the project. Isn’t this sweet? Dad loves to date and initial things.

The wood was already distressed with old paint drips here and there. I whitewashed, drybrushed, sanded and distressed them a bit more and we were ready for the words. Kaleigh worked her magic in Word and created the fonts and layout for me.

Using a projector, I penciled the words onto the board. I had to shift the paper a bit and in the process ended up with a gap between whom my and soul loves. Ooops.  I’ll fix that later.  After all the words were painted, I sanded the piece one last time.

My Soul Loves Scripture Art (3)Libby and Josh now have a personal and sentimental piece of art for their new home.

And just think, all it took was a little bit of help from 1 bride, 1 cousin, 1 aunt, 1 uncle and 1 grandfather to pull it off.

ALL of you did such an amazing job on this piece! It is so beautiful, and one of my most favorite decorations for the wedding. I especially love how you all set it up with the old stool and mason jar of flowers.

And yes, I DO think Scott took it as a personal challenge to nickname my daughter. (And if I remember correctly, my objection was to the nickname “Lizzy”.) But he was right…she is definitely our “Libby”. :)

  3. Love it! I would have never guessed that the scrolly thing was an oops cover-up. It looks like it was planned that way all along. I think I may have one of those somewhere in my stash, never thought of adding it to artwork.
