A Dining Room Fit For a Castle

Stone Dining Room (3)

Don’t you love walking into a home and finding that totally unexpected detail? Some wonderful detail beyond your basic four walls?

When entering Tara’s home you are immediately stuck by the unexpected impact of these majestic, dry-stacked stone walls.

Paired with the furnishings and accessories Tara chose for her dining room you can almost imagine this room in a remodeled medieval castle complete with moat!

After entering Tara’s home you will immediately begin seeing unexpected details.

Looking to your left you will get your first glimpse of Tara’s dining room.

Beyond the Screen Door - Painted Metallic Ceiling

Looking up you will see this magnificent ceiling detail.

I actually have before photos this time! This shot was taken during the moving in process (excuse the mess) but it gives you an idea of the layout as well as the entrance to the dining room. I’m standing in the main living space of the home.

Before Stone Dining Room

Here’s a shot taken during construction before the wood floors or mirrored ceiling were installed.
Before - Dining Room

I have seen a lot of accessories in my time but Tara wins the prize for “Most Accessories”. And this wasn’t all of them!

Stone Dining Room

Here we are in her beautiful, finished, fit for a castle dining room!

The window treatments were from her previous home. I altered them slightly to fit the new dining room windows and new hardware.

As you can imagine, it was not an easy task to install window treatment hardware into these stone walls. (Luckily, I didn’t have to tackle this job.) The next time I’m complaining because I can’t find a stud, I’m going to remember to be thankful I’m not drilling into stone!

Mirrored Dining Room Ceiling

Can you just picture how romantic this dining room will be with this mirrored ceiling reflecting the candle light?

Makes you imagine Lancelot and Guinevere are coming to dinner!
