Soft. Subtle. Tailored.
Many of the window treatments you see here on the blog are bold and dramatic. They make a statement with contrasting fabrics or bold color choices.
This window treatment makes a statement in a much more subtle way.
The details are still here but we used a much softer color palette.
Jennifer chose an aqua and ivory color scheme for new window treatments for her breakfast room.
We choose a gorgeous aqua embroidered fabric for the simple pinch pleated panels.
The board mounted undervalance is made from an ivory polyester finished with an aqua, tan & ivory tassel trim top stitched along the scalloped edge. The tan dot fabric forms a band along the lower edge which is sewn to the lining.
*Sewing detail – This valance consists of three layers. The scalloped ivory face is lined. The self hemmed dotted band is sewn to a 3rd lining layer and then sewn along the sides to the valance face. (This layer can be made entirely out of the dotted fabric instead of being sewn to a lining if desired) The valance was then stapled to a board for installation.
Jennifer chose to mount her valance several inches below the curtain hardware.
More often this style of valance is mounted even with or close to the top edge of the curtain panels as shown here.
A beautiful, soft and subtle option to add detail and drama to your windows.
