Teen Girl’s Bedroom

Upholstered Headborad Girls Bedroom

With three girls I’ve decorated my share of girl’s bedrooms. Many times over. We’ve swapped rooms, switched furniture, repainted, sewn new bedding, moved out, moved back in…and I’ve loved every minute of it.

Recently, my youngest took it upon herself to move everything in her room she no longer wanted or liked to the attic.  I walked in her room to find bare walls.

It looks like Whoville after the Grinch stole everything!

There is one mirror and 2 picture frames left. Besides her furniture…that’s it! Curtains…gone. Pillows…gone. Artwork…gone! LOL! I guess we’ll be redecorating.

I took these pictures during a local Parade of Homes tour. There’s so many cute ideas I had to share.

My favorite is that headboard! But that light fixture (from the first photo) is stunning! Loving curtains as I do I have to admire the drama these floor length panels framing the entrance to the bathroom add to this space.

And looking through the entrance you can see a glimpse of the shower curtain where they incorporated the same bold floral and stripe that appears on the bed.

Skirted Curtains

Love this fringe. I’ve never seen this fringe so I’m wondering if they used a ribbon/tulle fringe with a purple flower flat trim over the top or if it’s one complete fringe. Hmmm?

Upholstered Headboard

Trying to dissect my pictures, I think this is a turquoise faux leather. But it may be a turquoise suede-like fabric. It’s hard to tell for sure and I can’t remember. :)

I adore the blingy buttons. But I wonder, if given the choice, I would have chosen a nickle finish over the brass for the nailhead trim?

Bunk rooms are so popular, and if you have the extra space, this is a great idea to incorporate one bunk for a lounging/study/reading nook or extra sleepover bed.

Radiant Orchid

While writing this post I realized that if you’re looking for a color scheme in which to incorporate Pantone’s ’14 Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid, this might be an option. I do like the way the turquoise and orchid work together.

Off to figure out what my 16 year wants to do in her room. I’ll keep you posted! :)

Oh Sonya, I love this room and that headboard is fantastic. I do agree about the nail head though. How funny that your daughter just decided to do this. Can’t wait to see her new room.

ah teenagers! what fun! mine will be 15 next month. She is growing tired of what we did for decor in her room a few years ago so I’m sure we will be redoing it sometime in the next year or so!

The cool ceiling light looks a lot like IKEA’s “MASKROS” pendant lamp. I saw it last time I went and it’s pretty cool looking.

Oh boy, can I relate! I have redecorated the rooms so many times I cannot even count and every I do, I tell them that this is the last time! Haha…I am currently getting ready to make a new duvet! :) Luckily, I really, really enjoy the process, just don’t tell them that!

Would love to know if you find out where the fabrics came from.

    • Sonya says:

Hi, Amie. I found the trim on the curtains between the bedroom and bathroom at Vu’s Fabrics in Edmond, OK. Sorry, I don’t have an online source for it. I’m honestly not sure where the other fabrics are from but I would guess Fabrics Unlimited in Oklahoma City.
