Succulent Corsage

As I sit here writing this post I’m resisting the urge to melt into panic mode.

Kaleigh and Jared’s wedding is in 6 and 1/2 weeks. Somehow, I just realized this.

My brain has been stuck on 8 weeks.
8 weeks is good. 8 weeks is manageable.
I can do 8 weeks.

6 weeks might as well be this weekend, People!

A bit irrational? Yes.

Since it’s 10:00 pm and I can’t do anything about it tonight, I’ll channel my inner Scarlett O’Hara, “I’ll think about that tomorrow” and bring you up to date on some of the latest happenings around here.

Succulent Corsage (2)Succulent corsage

  • My baby girl went to her first prom wearing a handmade succulent corsage. Isn’t this so cute! Kaleigh made the corsage using several different succulents and a pearl bracelet for the base. So cute!
  • Courtney and Drew are moving to Oklahoma! I’m so excited! It’s not a permanent move but that’s okay. Just as long as they realize I’ll be praying it’ll turn into a permanent move. 🙂

Prom ShoesCutest Prom Shoes Ever

  • Last week I spent 3 exhausting days preparing for and hosting a garage sale. Today, Habitat for Humanity came and picked up everything that was left over.  The clean garage and feeling of relief to have that stuff out of my house…priceless!
  • “The Curious Case of the Procrastinated Projects” – a possible post I have in mind for all the half finished projects I have floating around this house. Those that weren’t sold in the garage sale.
  • In 6 weeks, for Kaleigh’s wedding – ALL of my side of the family will be together again for the first time in almost 10 years. 2 parents, 5 siblings, 5 spouses, 14 grandchildren and 3 grandchildren spouses. I AM BEYOND EXCITED!
  • Currently, I have a free standing ice maker that’s no longer producing ice, a dishwasher leaving crusty deposits on the dishes, a microwave on the fritz and a dryer that’s acting finicky. For Courtney’s wedding my oven quit. Just stating the facts.
  • The previous point is one of reasons I’m near panic mode. Though I’m hiding it quite nicely don’t you think?

Prom CorsageMy Baby Girl! Soon to be a Senior!

  • I have yet to find a dress for the wedding.
  • I have yet to find shoes for the wedding.

On a Business Note…

  • Many email subscribers have not been getting the blog emails. I’m so sorry! In fact I subscribe myself and I haven’t been getting them! My plan is to switch carriers soon. I’ll be sure to let you know when that occurs.
  • Beyond the Screen Door is now offering Advertising and Sponsorship Opportunities.  Feel free to email me if you are interested and having any questions about the process.

I’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the wedding happenings. Follow along on Instagram (beyondthescreendoor) for updates. I’m on Twitter too (sonyascreendoor) but I really don’t know what I’m doing! 🙂

Your daughter is beautiful! That corsage and the whole outfit is so pretty.

You do have a lot going on. Those doggone appliances always pick the worst possible time to go on the fritz too.

Stay calm and take it all one day at a time.

  2. Kim says:

Hey, my friend, you’ll pull it off–women like *us* always do! 😉 You will be feeling blessed, exhausted, and happy all at once, before you know. Enjoy being with your family–it’s always a good excuse to laugh a lot. Best of luck finding your dress and shoes, I’m sure you’ll find something that’s “just right.” Okay–it was a little crazy to have a garage sale that close to the wedding! Hugs, God Bless, I’ll add you to my prayers.

  3. Deborah Wilkins says:

Breathe, Sonya, breathe! You will be just fine and you know everything will be beautiful. A mentor told me early in my career that the busiest people are always given more to do – because everyone knows that they can do it! I know that is true of you, too. Make lists, check them twice…….everything will turn out just fine. Breathe…….

  4. Mari says:

Ok inhale then exhale, everything will be fine 😉 things always come together nicely at the end 😉

  5. Vickie says:

Based on past posts…you’ll get it done…on time…with class! I read with interest that Habitat for Humanity picks up items! I didn’t know that. We’re finally getting to our garage after the big move-in and a lot of things will be going away. I’ll give them a call. I’m so happy that your family will all be together for the wedding. Keep us updated!

  6. Debbie Newlon says:

You’ll be fine Sonya. It will all come together. Soon you will have extra family here to help as well. Can’t help with the other appliances, but as far as the dishwasher have you run a dishwater cleaner through it? It helps. Also, I use “Lemishine” additive when I run the dishwasher too. It really helps with spots in this Oklahoma water.
If I can help you with the wedding in anyway, feel free to give me a call.

  7. Sonya says:

Thank you so much, sweet friends, for all your kind and encouraging words! It’s going to be a beautiful wedding! I can’t wait to share it with you all!

  8. Cindy says:

I remember those same feelings when our daughter was getting married…sooo much to do! Saying a prayer for you sweet friend, for calm and that all will fall in to place. So take a breath and tackle one item at a time…you’ll be fine!
Your daughter looks so beautiful, love her dress, corsage, and those shoes are perfect!

  9. Lori says:

I can’t wait to see the creativity that will be bursting from the seams at the wedding! Just love watching you in action!

  10. This is such a great post because it is life. Can you know imagine my last year…two of my children got married and two grandchildren were born…all in one year? Panic, well with job loss also I finally became numb. The wonderful thing is that God has it all in control and at the end of the day, each of my children were married….forgotten items, or undone list, didn’t matter.
Blessings…………enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh I have a senior next year also…not yet my last, but my fifth. It will be a fun year for the both of us.
Your business is wonderful and I think of you often, more with a “how does she do this” thought.

Sonya I am so exhausted from reading this email, you poor thing. Try not to panic too much but with everything you listed, I can understand. The wedding will be perfect, I just know it. How so exciting to get your family together after all this time. That is sheer joy, I am sure. Your daughter looks so adorable for the prom. That corsage is adorable and what creativity and something different. You are tough and things will fall into place.

  13. Oh your “baby girl” is so the corsage and those dress and shoes are beautiful…love those shoes…it looks like your plate is full…very full…but I know you will pull it off beautifully!….Yes, I have not gotten your posts via email…I have placed many of the blogs on Bloglovin…do you subscribe to that?….Have a great weekend and Happy Mother’s Day!!
