Imagine this bright and cheerful kitchen stuck in a 70’s timewarp.
Without before pictures (which I sure wish I had) it’s really hard to imagine. When my sister-in-law Gina and her husband George first purchased this lake house the best word to describe it was brown.
Brown woodwork, brown carpet, brown furniture…just brown. Top to bottom brown.
While a few remnants of it’s 70’s glory remain most of the house reflects it’s new bright and cheerful, full of charm, makeover.
The walls in the kitchen and family room were painted a pale aqua. All the cabinets and trim received a bright coat of white paint. Sea Horse pulls now adorn the kitchen cabinets.
When you’re at the lake your focus is often on outdoor activities, so much so that cooking is just a chore. Not in this kitchen.
From the toaster to the dishes to the measuring cups and spoons there was cuteness everywhere you looked.
Even the flatware was cute.
While technically a lake house, this home feels more like a beach cottage with Gina’s special touches.
This large table was perfect for big meals as well as cards, dominoes and/or Bananagrams.
And the view was amazing.
For some reason the water looks like a muddy swamp in this pic but it really wasn’t. We were so close to the water. You could people watch all day long…skiiers, fishermen, parasailers. From the fast and furious speed boats, ski boats and jet skis to the slower paced sail boats, fishing boats and pontoons.
A touch of the beach in land locked Oklahoma.
More of this lake house coming soon. See a first glimpse here.
